Archives

My Dad's SOE records (1939-1946) have been confided to the National Archives, along with other SOE files. They are not available under the Freedom of Information Act and are 'closed'. ( The SOE was the official name for Churchill's Secret Army.) Dad worked on facilitating British agent communications and sabotaging Nazi operations.
'Station X' simply meant 'Station 10', there were many stations. The station names and operation names were kept as simple as possible, the idea was that the SS were to fail to perceive their existence for as long as possible, for obvious reasons.
